DNAPL Course
Dr. Kramer gave the group a brief outline of the content of the dense non-aqueous phase liquids (DNAPL) course to be offered to SCRD members at the Spring 2000 meeting in Las Vegas. Dr Kramer, who will be the principal trainer, indicated that he is open to suggestions on the content, because he wants to ensure that the course is tailored to the needs of the participating states. He indicated that the course would cover:

He said that there is a lot to cover in the 2-day timeframe for the course and that some case studies are being included. However, he indicated that if there was a desire to have a session to discuss actual cases, it may be able to be arranged. He asked anyone interested in such a session to contact Cheryl Joseph (NGWA) by Friday, February 18. Respondents, in addition to expressing interest, should be prepared to indicate whether they would be willing to participate in an evening session if necessary and make any other comments/suggestions concerning the course content and focus. Dr. Kramer said that he can be reached directly if needed at 702-895-3553.

Dick DeZeeuw said that his intention is to prepare the material for the Program Development/Administration subgroup poster by extracting highlights from the technical paper the subgroup has prepared for submission to the Battelle conference. He indicated that he would contact Perroni to discuss it further.

Members agreed to allow each state to prepare a one-page overview of its program to be handed out at the poster sessions at both meetings. These overviews are to focus on the history and purpose of the program and what it is used for. Perroni indicated that she must have all one-pagers by Monday, March 6, to ensure everything can be duplicated and shipped to San Diego for the AEHS meeting.

April 2000 SCRD Meeting
The group discussed several topics to be addressed at the SCRD meeting at the Stardust Resort and Casino in Las Vegas in April:

Dick DeZeeuw said that he has information on a Green Earth solvent (silicon-based) that is being tested at a number of sites. One of these is in Las Vegas and, depending on the group’s interest, he could contact someone about giving a site tour. He asked anyone interested to let him know.

Perroni said that EMS had distributed the revised logo/poster designs to all members for final review. The group chose the design with member states outlined, changed the background color from red to blue, and agreed to remove the outline from associate members states. Perroni said she would have the changes made and a final copy distributed to everyone for their information.
