Next Meeting
SCRD plans to meet in spring 2001. A location has not yet been identified, but some suggestions were offered during SCRD's October 2001 meeting. Call participants asked to add New York City and Washington, D.C., to the list of possibilities. DeZeeuw will contact Jim Harrington (a representative from New York) to discuss the idea. DeZeeuw said that Craig Dukes is in charge of the meeting's training component, and encouraged SCRD members to send suggestions and input directly to Dukes. DeZeeuw said that vendors will probably be invited to the meeting to present information about their technologies. Dukes will ask these vendors to submit their presentations ahead of time so that SCRD can review them and make sure presentation topics are relevant to SCRD members. Fitton suggested inviting a speaker to describe the rapid assessment approach. Call participants also said that state updates should be included in the meeting agenda; guidelines should be distributed beforehand to ensure that each state representative covers the same material.

DeZeeuw said that it has been over a year since New Mexico, one of SCRD's associate members, participated in a meeting or conference call. Representatives from New Mexico have been contacted to determine whether they are still interested in SCRD, but no response has been received. Therefore, DeZeeuw will write a letter telling New Mexico representatives that their associate membership status has lapsed, but that they will be invited back to SCRD in the future if they have something new to offer.

Harold Ethridge said that Louisiana is an associate member, noting that the state received this status because it was drafting legislation for a cleanup fund program. This legislation has not moved forward, Ethridge said, and he was unsure whether it would progress any time soon. He asked whether Louisiana's associate membership status will be revoked. DeZeeuw agreed to bring the issue up with Richard Steimle.

Call participants identified three other states that might be interested in participating in SCRD's activities.
