In Situ Chemical Oxidation
 

Why the technology was selected:
The remedial approach employed MnO4 in Na and K forms and was applied in colloidal suspension. The suspension of KMnO4 was in 20% NaMnO4 solution, which allowed for lower volumes of material required to meet the oxidant demand as well as longer-lived MnO4 species via suspended colloidal KMnO4.

Date implemented:
The injection program was implemented between August 15th and August 16th 2007.

Results to date:
In MW-1 a baseline PCE concentration of 5.2 ppb in 2007 rose to 10.4 ppb in 2009. A permangate injection event occured in 8/07. In MW-4 a pre-injection concentration of PCE (3.17 ppb) rose to 5.04 ppb in 2009. In MW-5 a pre-injection concentration of 120 ppb PCE was measured in 8/07, in 2009 that concentration was measured to be 95.4 ppb.
